BIBLE STUDY There will be no Bible study in May. Our next scheduled Bible study will be on Wednesday, June 4, at 9:30 a.m. in Room 16. Won’t you join us?
MOTHER-DAUGHTER BANQUET
It’s time for us to be thinking about the Mother-Daughter Banquet. Since we are getting our newsletters every other month, we must plan now! We welcome all women of the church and their mothers, daughters, daughters-in-law, female relatives, and friends for an evening of entertainment, good food, and fellowship. Our theme this year is “shoes.” Kathy Landis, the Women’s Ministry Director of Mt. Holly Methodist Church will share an inspirational message “Steppin’ out for the Lord,” with the aid of films and projector. As always we will have wonderful musical entertainment. We ask that you wear or bring the oldest, craziest, or most unusual shoes, tell us about them or display them. You may also bring a pair of new or gently worn shoes, children or adults, to be given to Project S.H.A.R.E. or one of our local shelters. Our chef for the banquet will be Chef Lloyd (what a great job last year) Hudson assisted by Bill Schirmer (chef in training). The menu will consist of: Bouef Bourgignonne on Rotini plus other items and dessert. We will again have our gift table, items for everyone for gift giving or for yourself. The Rada stainless pieces are always a good gift for weddings, thank-you gifts, birthdays, or that special person going off to college. Rada has gone up in price this past year, but we purchased our selection before the price increase. Now is the time to buy. Please call the church office at 249-3310 to sign up. If you’re not sure yet — keep in mind that reservations must be in by Monday, May 5. If you have dietary needs, please let us know. If you would like to sit together as a group or couple, let us know. We will do our best to accommodate you. A free-will offering will be taken to cover the cost of the meal.
SPRING RUMMAGE & BAKE SALE
Help is needed for our semi-annual rummage sale. We will set up Thursday, May 15, beginning at 9 a.m. You may come anytime before 2:30 p.m. to help. Help is also needed on Friday to sell and to straighten up. We start at 8 a.m. and close at 4 p.m. on Friday and on Saturday we will start to clean up around 11:30 a.m. All items still here must be packed in boxes to be sent out for pickup. Men are especially needed at 11:30 a.m. to help box and put racks back in their proper places. Won’t you try to donate a few hours, a day, or three days? Any help will be appreciated. For more information, please call Betty Baker at 249-3310. Please, only spring and summer clothing in clean, usable condition. We will also accept tools, toys, jewelry, kitchen appliances, and furniture. For furniture pickup, please call Betty Baker. All appliances should be in clean working order. Thank you. Money received from our sale will be supplemented by funds from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, West Cumberland Chapter. The money we receive is used for our budget benevolences. If you cannot help with the rummage sale, you can donate to the BAKE SALE. All baked items are needed: breads, cakes, pies, cookies, or fudge. They can be brought to the kitchen off Festal Hall on Thursday, May 15, anytime. Please mark your pans if you want them back. Thanks so much.
