Men’s Ministry

Our April Meeting will be held on April 19 at the Friendly’s Restaurant on the Walnut Bottom Road at 7:30 a.m.  This breakfast meeting marks the first anniversary of First Lutheran’s Men’s Ministry.  Over the past year, we have established a solid foundation of worship and fellowship among men of the congregation.  In addition to having a good breakfast each month, we have had many discussions relating to our faith in Jesus Christ and His love for each of us.

We have just completed a six-session seminar titled Rewired - From Performance To Passion.  Although this seminar was basically a study of the Book of Galatians, our discussions ranged far and wide.  Everyone involved found this to be both enlightening and spiritually rewarding.

During the month of May, we plan to begin a ten-session study based on the book No Man Left Behind by Patrick Morley, David Delk and Brett Clemmer.  The sessions will be held at the Church each Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.  The study will demonstrate the principles necessary to bring men closer to God, Discipleship and Church.  Consider that every man who is a member of First Lutheran is a part of the Men’s Ministry.  No Man Left Behind will enable you to become comfortable with your specific role in worship and discipleship.

There are a number of other activities occurring during April and May.  The Mother/Daughter Banquet will be held on May 7.  Taylor Miller is coordinating the assistance necessary from the men of First Lutheran.  Please consider helping with serving, cleaning up and any other duties required.  Also the following week, the Father/Son Banquet will be held on May 14.  The men’s requirement here is to come, enjoy good food and fellowship.

For your information, the Men’s Ministry will sponsor a training session based on No Man Left Behind for leaders in all the churches in West Cumberland Conference of Lower Susquehanna Synod.  These two sessions will be offered so that the leaders will be able to establish a program, much like ours, for the men of their congregations.  Also, Habitat For Humanity will be starting this year’s building program before long.  Any of you with special skills or just an interest are urged to provide whatever assistance you can.  Watch for more on this subject.
