Your input is needed for next year’s trip!

Boy Chasing School Bus Animated Clipart

First Lutheran Fellowship is planning a bus trip in 2010 to Longwood Gardens to see the Christmas Exhibit and Light Show.  We have a choice of two dates in which to schedule our trip:  November 27, 2010, which is the Saturday after Thanksgiving or December 4, 2010, which is the first Saturday in December.

Please take a few moments and help us decide which date would be best for visiting Longwood Gardens.  Just call the church office or place your preference on a piece of paper and put it in the offering plate.  This does not sign you up for the trip.  Sign-up will take place later next year.  Thanks!

If you can’t attend the supper, please come for Vespers.  This year our 40-day journey will focus on the sacraments and rites of the Lutheran church.  Come, journey with us here at First Lutheran.

Learn How 'Thrivent Builds Worldwide' is Making a Difference.  Please Attend a Thrivent Builds Awareness Night - March 25 at St Stephen Lutheran Church, New Kingstown.

Thrivent Builds Worldwide, part of Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity, a $125 million program designed to involve members and Lutherans in helping to provide a “hand up” to people who lack decent shelter.

We would like to recognize all who have volunteered their time or talent to the Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity program since its inception in 2005.  In addition, we want to give you the opportunity to learn more about how you can become involved both locally and overseas.  Teams travel to Central America, Eastern Europe, Africa, and select locations in the United States.

Our Guest Speaker will be Shannon Baines, the Global Village & Special Events Manager of Habitat Guatemala.  Shannon will give us an overview:

  • How you can make a difference in the lives of others
  • How you can support the program
  • How you can be part of a team of volunteers

These trips are a life-changing experience for everyone not only doing hard labor with simple tools but also getting to know the families who have so little, yet are happy and full of faith in God.  Like all Habitat homeowners, they will buy their home with sweat equity and a low-cost loan.  Their mortgage payments are part of the “fund for Humanity,” which will be used to help build more Habitat homes.

The location is the Fellowship Hall of St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 30 W Carlisle Pike, New Kingstown.  The time for this event will be 6:30 until 8:30 PM.  The event is sponsored by the South Central PA Group of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and co-sponsored by the West Cumberland & the West Shore Thrivent Chapters.

Want to learn more?  Or would like to attend?  Please contact the South Central Group at 877-674-100 or email southcentralpagroup@thrivent.com.
